Vicki Rozema
Freelance Photographer, Writer, and Speaker


Vicki is author of three books on Cherokee history published by John F. Blair, Publisher of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Her first book, published in 1995, Footsteps of the Cherokees: A Guide to the Eastern Homelands of the Cherokee Nation, received an Award of Merit from the Tennessee Historical Commission. Cherokee Voices: Early Accounts of Cherokee Life in the East, was published in October, 2002. Vicki’s most recent book, Voices from the Trail of Tears, was published in March, 2003.  Vicki’s historic and travel articles have appeared in Native Peoples, Blue Ridge Country, Country, and Country Extra magazines.

Vicki serves on the board of the Tennessee chapter of the Trail of Tears Association and is a member of the Chattanooga Indigenous Resource Center and Library, Chattanooga Area Historical Association, Chattanooga Civil War Round Table, Clan Montgomery Society International, Bell Clan International, and other organizations dedicated to education or preservation of history.

Vicki’s photography has been published in calendars, books, travel guides, videos, CD covers, newspapers and magazines. Her photo credits include Native Peoples, Southern Living, Blue Ridge Country, Farm and Ranch Living, Reminisce, Birds and Blooms, Country and Country Extra, National Parks, Taste of Home, Now and Then, Taste of Home, Crafting Traditions and other magazines. Vicki works in both color and black and white 35mm, teaches photographic workshops, and is available for assignments.

Vicki is available to speak on Cherokee history incorporating slides, maps, and handouts into her presentation. Suggested subjects:
